Masuria by Boat & Bike

Masuria, the southern part of the region formerly known as East Prussia and Poland‘s largest lake district is the destination of this journey. Many have left their mark here: the Baltic Prussians, the Teutonic Order, the evangelic Masurians and the Prussian State. Since then the Polish government has transformed the densely wooded Masurian lake district into a touristic area. The region offers countless water sport activities and can easily be explored by bike. As this tour by boat and bike in Masuria will take you through slightly hilly terrain, you should have a basic level of physical fitness.

Day 1 Arrival Nikolaiken
You can either take the Masuria shuttle from Warsaw or travel directly to Nikolaiken. Tour briefing and bike hand-over.

Day 2 Round trip Lake Lucknain, approx. 20 km/13 mi
Time to explore Mikolajki, the round tour leads to the Lakes of Lucknain in the Biosphere Reservate, with a variety of rare water birds.

Day 3 Nikolaiken - Kamien - Nikolaiken, approx. 25 km/15 mi
The bike tour will take you past the place where the primeval Tarpan horse was back bred. Boat trip from Kamien.

Day 4 Boat trip, Ryn-Wilkasy, approx. 50 km/31 mi
On your journey you will come across the Wolf's Lair, Adolf Hitler's Eastern Front military headquarters, Rastenburg is more enjoyable with its fortress and fortified church.

Day 5 Round trip to Lake Goldapgar, approx. 54 km/33 mi
Gizycko is the urban highlight of this tour, which is otherwise characterised by nature.

Day 6 Boat trip, Ryn - Nikolaiken, approx. 42 km/26 mi
Ryn’s fortress is a beautiful Baroque building. The farm house museum in Zodern is also worth seeing.

Day 7 Round trip Johannesburg heathland and Krutyń, approx. 43 km/27 mi
In Wojnowo there is an orthodox Philipon monastery. A punting trip in Krutyń is also worthwhile.

Day 8 Disembarkation and departure

The booking process

Arrival:

• Arrival by car:
  - parking airport Warsaw, approx. 80 EUR/week, transfer bus (Masuren-Shuttle) approx. 03:00 pm
  - parking nearby the boat in Nikolaiken 45 EUR

• Arrival by train:
  Warsaw "Warszawa Centralna", transfer bus (Masuren-Shuttle) approx. 04:00 pm

• Arrival by plane:
  - airport "Frederik Chopin", transfer boat (Masuren-Shuttle) approx. 03:00 pm

Personal bikes:
In principle, you can bring your own bike along. However, please note that your bike will be loaded on and off the boat twice a day along with several others and therefore slight cosmetic damage to individual bikes cannot be ruled out, which is why we do not take responsibility or liability for such damage. We recommend reserving one the excellent rental bikes we offer.
Price for transfer of personal bikes with Masuren Shuttle: On request approx. 55 - 60 EUR bidirectional.
