Boat & Bike in the Netherlands - Maastricht

The Netherlands are way more than just Holland. This tour will take you around the IJsselmeer, the Rhine-Maas-Delta withs its confusing amount of river arms, and Limburg province, from where you’ll be able to see the foothills of the Eifel and the Ardennes. You will be enthralled by loads of nature, many fortresses and breathtaking castles. Travelling by boat and bike across the Netherlands is easy and pleasant. The tour commences in Maastricht.

Boat & Bike in the Netherlands - MS Gandalf

Day 1 Arrival in Maastricht
Embarkation at 2 pm, after which you can explore the provincial capital of Maastricht, which is home to old casemate walls and impressive mergel grottos.

Day 2 Born - Roermond, approx. 40 km/25 mi, boat trip
Alongside the Mass, you’ll continue on to Thorn, all of whose houses are whitewashed. Roermund is an old episcopal seat with many buildings worth visiting.

Day 3 Roermond - Venlo - Arcen, approx. 50 km/31 mi
The bike tour further leads into the popular shopping hub that is Venlo, after which Arcen castle and its 10 different rose gardens awaits.

Day 4 Arcen - Cuijck, approx. 53 km/33 mi
En route you’ll see the impressive Well castle, after which you’ll cycle through Maasduinen national park.

Day 5 Cuijck - Oss, approx. 40 km/25 mi, boat trip
Grave and Ravenstein are charming medieval towns, then you will sail onwards to the restored fortified town of Heusden. Enjoy the evening in the village of Heusden and indulge in one of the town's restaurants.

Day 6 Gorinchem - Vianen, approx. 41 km/25 mi, boat trip
The tour leads on from Gorinchem to Leerdam, which is home to many glass blowing workshops. You’ll be sleeping in the fortress town of Vianen.

Day 7 Breuelen - Amsterdam, approx. 42 km/26 mi, boat trip
The river Vecht will follow you into the quirky and colourful city of Amsterdam. Taking a cruise boat on the canals is a memorable experience, or why not visit one of the many famous museums!

Day 8 Disembarkation, departure or extension

    Maastricht train station, approx. 1000 m to the boat or bus 1, 2, 4-8 to "Mosae Forum/Centrum"

Return transfer:

Personal bikes:
In principle, you can bring your own bike along. However, please note that your bike will be loaded on and off the boat twice a day along with several others and therefore slight cosmetic damage to individual bikes cannot be ruled out, which is why we do not take responsibility or liability for such damage. We recommend reserving one the excellent rental bikes we offer.

Perfectly looked after:
During your tour, we are available between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days a week. We are happy to help with any kind of problems you might be having. You will find this emergency number in your travel documents.

  • As is the case with all boat trips, changes in travel itineraries due to the weather, the rivers’ water levels or technical issues can be undertaken at any time.
